The Thomas A. Costello Memorial Alumni Award was created to honor Tommy’s legacy while inspiring young Badgers to embrace the pay-it-forward culture which defined him. Patrick Sweeney was the first recipient of this award, a fellow Badger in Finance and an early college friend of Tom. Patrick’s professional success, dedication to mentorship, and continued involvement with the Wisconsin School of Business exemplify the spirit of the award and the values that Tommy lived every day.

As we continue to grow the Badgers in Finance community, the Thomas A. Costello Memorial Alumni Award serves as a lasting tribute to a remarkable individual whose impact is still felt across campus and beyond. Each year, this award will recognize alumni who not only excel in their careers but who also carry forward the values of generosity, leadership, and a commitment to uplifting others.
